SDG15 - Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss

UNDP SD15 official page [1]

"The summary result for SDG 15 'life on land' stems from the indicators. The EU has achieved progress in the management of forest areas, water quality, sufficiency of terrestrial sites designated under the EU Habitats Directive and, to some extent, in halting the decline in the number of common bird species. Against these positive developments, artificial land cover per capita has increased and the rate of land take and soil sealing has accelerated. However, it should be noted that EU reports and evaluations based on different indicators conclude that the status of ecosystems and biodiversity in the EU has not (yet) sufficiently improved, and that progress in reducing the impacts of EU consumption patterns on global biodiversity has been insufficient (7)" ( 2017:14)
