ECOLISE has its own projects and is also a partner in several consorcium projects. Here is a list and link to more information on them.

ECOLISE is the lead partner of the Erasmus+ strategic partnership BLAST – BLended Adult Learning for the Social-ecological Transition (2019-2021). Its purpose is to enable educators, trainers and others in delivering transformative learning opportunities to citizens, communities and professionals that engage as change-makers and game-changers in the social-ecological transition.

ECOLISE has helped develop and is a consortium member of a number of Horizon 2020 projects: GROW Observatory (2016-2019), UrbanA: Urban Arena for sustainable and just cities (2019-2021) and COMETS: COllective action Models for Energy Transition and Social Innovation (2019-2022).

UrbanA takes up the challenge of synthesizing and brokering the knowledge and experiences generated in prior EU-funded projects on interventions addressing grand societal challenges, including sustainability transitions and reversing increasing social inequalities in urban spaces. UrbanA will support city-makers – including policymakers, researchers, and engaged citizens – in transforming European cities into inclusive and sustainable urban and peri-urban environments. ECOLISE leads UrbanA’s communications work, which is closely integrated with research activities throughout, including planning, delivery and follow-up of the multi-stakeholder urban arena events at the core of the project. The kick-off meeting for UrbanA was in January 2019 and the first Arena event took place in Rotterdam, 28-29 November 2019. The next Arena event is in Barcelona in June 2020.

COMETS seeks to further understand and concretely support citizen-led actions on sustainable energy transitions by documenting and evaluating their activities and facilitating co-development of a support platform and suite of support tools. In COMETS, ECOLISE will lead development of the support platform and contribute specific expertise in community-led action and community engagement at all stages of the research process, as well as facilitating participation of local initiatives in survey and case study research. GROW Observatory is a European-wide project involving thousands of citizenGrow Observatorys, gardeners and professional growers together with scientists and others passionate about land. The project works with and encourages stakeholders to use simple tools to better manage soil and grow food, while also contributing to vital scientific environmental monitoring through citizen science. The GROW Observatory was developed by a consortium of partners, including ECOLISE. It now has 17 partner organisations including the Permaculture Association of Britain and Cultivate, both ECOLISE members.

GROW offers:Simple, fun experiments to do with friends, family or your community. Low cost but high power consumer sensing technology, a simple to use soil testing kit, and easy applications, to lower barriers to entry. Engagement underpinned by storytelling and community champions. Massive Open Online Course (MOOCs) to enable scaling of rigorous citizen science. GROW’s first MOOC, which started on 8 May 2017, help participants learn how to understand soil and explore global environmental soil issues by becoming a citizen scientist. STATUS REPORT is a project and main initiative of Ecolise that aims to bring together the learnings and impact assessment of communities work in the promotion of sustainability in Europe.
