Eno Energy Cooperative was founded in 1999 and became the first community-based energy cooperative in Finland. Its model has inspired initiation of more than 300 similar companies in Finland.

The cooperative, owned by local forest owners, is based on a heat production using forest wood chips. The cooperative also receives visitors and tourists guiding them on annual trips to learn about the wood chip production system and the cooperative’s business model.

Eno Energy Cooperative was subject of a case study in the EU-funded research project TESS.
