From sustainability to transformation

From EcoliseWiki

An old orthodoxy that assumed that sustainability amounts to nothing more than cleaning up existing systems of provision has been superceded by an understanding that it requires fundamental transformation of all major societal structure. It is now clear that existing political and economic frameworks, the institutions that deliver them, and the worldviews they both reflect and perpetuate, are fundamentally incompatible with life within biophysical limits on a finite planet. Various new economic and social models have been proposed, all of which highlight the importance of self-organised, transformative action at community scale as a major source of the necessary innovation and driver of change.
